Makarska riviera – how to get there


This riviera is trafficly well connected with all Croatian regions. The nearest airport is in Split and is well connected with all major European cities. There is organized transportation from the airport to the main coach station in Split and you can also use the regular coach lines 37 (Split-Trogir;Trogir-Split) and 38 (Airport-Kastel stari-Split; Split-Kastel Stari-Airport). Coach lines that drive from Split to Makarska are frequent and information on timetables you can find here, and you can also make reservations for a private transportation from the airport, coach station or ferry harbour in Split that will take you further towards the riviera. The distance between Zagreb and Makarska is 458km and it will take you about 4,5 hours by car. Just follow the highway until you reach the exit Sestanovac and then just drive down the state road until you reach Makarska – 30km.

If however you are arriving by coach from the Zagreb direction there are coach lines that drive in the direction of Makarska several times a day and it will take you approx. 6h to reach your destination. If you are arriving to the coast by boat or ferry the nearest international harbour is in Split and is connected with catamaran and regular boat lines with Ancona in Italy. All the information on catamaran lines and for the regular boat lines are available here
